Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid OVA: ~Wari to Hima na Sentaichou no Ichinichi~ ("Captain's Day Off" is the best I can translate it to) takes place on a day of rest for the crew of the Tuatha de Danan. It follows Tessa as she tries to remember what happened to her stuffed Bonta-kun.

So why is it that Tessa is having trouble remembering the whereabouts of her Bonta-kun? Well on her visit to Tessa's quarters the night before, Melissa managed to trick Tessa into drinking some of her beer. Tessa, having to seemingly never drink before, was pretty well lit after the single beer. She is having trouble remembering any of the previous night's events.

Slowly, as she walks around the base asking if anyone has seen her Bonta-kun, events from the night before play out in her head in typical flashback fashion; in black and white. Eventually she remembers ALL of the embarrassing things she did while under the influence and seeks to clear up what she believes to be a rather large misunderstanding between her and Sousuke.

This OVA single handedly attempts to return some of the humor to the Full Metal Panic series after the mostly somber and serious feel of The Second Raid. I believe they have succeeded, so well in fact that this episode would have easily fit into the Fumoffu series without any rewrites or changes of any kind. It really is a lot of fun to watch.

There is no opening credit sequence to speak of. There are credits that display while Tessa is showering, but no opening theme or anything like it. I appreciate this since it means the majority of the 31 minutes of the show are devoted to content.

The ending animation is a set of stills of Tessa in various poses from a high school swimsuit to falling over while dressed in her Captain's outfit. The song that plays is the opening song from The Second Raid's opening. Not the most original ending sequence, but it works.

Coming off of the superbly detailed and animated The Second Raid, this OVA retains the look and feel of the FMP:TSR TV series perfectly. I'd say the animation is the same high quality of the TV series.

The audio on this disc is a single Japanese LPCM 2.0 audio track with no English subtitles nor dub available. The loss of a multi-channel audio track isn't really all that big of a loss, as there is little to no action in the series, besides a rather interesting Arm Slave dance sequence orchestrated by Melissa. Multi-channel audio was not needed as the show is mainly dialog driven. There are no noticeable issues with the audio.
